One more thing

I saw the most amazing bumper sticker today:

I'm only speeding
cause I have to POOP

with a small drawing of a pile of poo...

that is all...

have a good day...

Well, apparentlly i still have a blog

I haven't updated this thing an ass long time... i'm pretty sure you've noticed that... or maybe you haven't... but then again, if you haven't, you probably aren't reading this right now, because you don't check my blog...

so, i guess i'll just continue then...

anyways, a few weeks, maybe months, back, i watched a couple of bad sci-fi movies... all starring Jonas Quinn...

and now for an aside that will explain my naming conventions. I will not be referring to actors by their given names, but instead by the role I know them best in. For example, Richard Dean Anderson will not be referred to as such, but probably alternating between MacGyver and Han Solo. Anyways, for the purpose of this post, and your information, Jonas Quinn is a character on Stargate SG-1, who replaced Dr. Daniel Jackson when his character died at the end of the 5th season. Quinn is played by Corin Nemec, who apparently has a number of bad sci-fi movies under his belt... and that's the last i'll be explaining of people's names. I'll let you have the fun and excitingness of figuring the rest out for yourselves...

anyways, the first movie that came on was "SS Doomtrooper". How can you resist a movie with that title? Anyways, the premise of the movie was that the Nazis were experimenting with the new and exciting "nuclear radiation", which allowed them to create the titular character, basically a huge muscular glowing guy... and i hope that titular means what i think it means, otherwise, this doomtrooper guy apparently has some serious boob-age issues...

anyways, Jonas Quinn played the role of the Army Dude Who Goes Up Against The SS Doomtrooper Dude, And Through Some Adversity, Manages to Vanquish His Evil Foe. I'm pretty sure that was exactly the character's name in the movie, but I could be wrong... anyways, he had a bunch of buddies that went on the mission who were playing the roles of Random Friends of Army Dude, Who Are Essential For The Success Of The Mission, But Are Inexplicably In Jail At The Time, And Thus Require Army Dude To Convince the Brass To Let them Out of Jail, So They Can Go On This Absurdly Important Mission. If I weren't so lazy, I'd come up with an acronym or something... Instead I'm gonna stick with Jonas Quinn, and the Dirty Dozen (even though there were only about 5 of them)... the plot should seem rather familiar, except without the whole SS Doomtrooper guy...

Anyways, I don't really remember much of the movie, except for the bad computer graphics, and that Jonas Quinn had some bad hair... dude needs a haircut (see later for when I talk about Mansquito)

Anyways, they eventually vanquish the foe, and everyone's happy... except for the general, who gets his Jeep jacked by our intrepid heroes at the end of the movie, because apparently, since they just got back from the mission, they can go futzing around the countryside in an american Jeep, while still wearing German uniforms, and not get shot... or reprimanded by the General whose jeep they just freaking stole...

Mansquito: Well, at the beginning, I was quite surprised, because apparently Jonas Quinn was boning Shaun'auc... Figured Teal'c was gonna show up and kick his ass, but he never did... and then she turned into a mosquito thing... womansquito? who knows...

anyways, the best part of this movie was when Jonas went into the hospital to hunt down the criminal guy who had turned into the mansquito... At one point, Jonas shot the creature with an m203, after yelling "Hey, Mansquito!"... Not very often that they actually use the name of the movie in the movie itself...

And right then and there I decided that if I ever turn into a mansquito or something similar, I would like someone to yell "Hey Mansquito!" and then proceed to shoot me with an m203. There's just a certain flair for the awesome in that death...

And now, that movie with the Tiger and Gary Busey...

I have no idea what it was called, but it was a bad sci-fi movie with Gary Busey... Gary Busey starred as the sheriff of some town suffering from an acute case of tiger...

anyways, for some odd reason, the wardrobe department had the good Mr. Busey dressed up in a really poorly fitting suit, which just looked terrible...

and for some reason, they decided to end the movie in much the same fashion as "Kaw", which was the bad sci-fi movie with Sean Patrick Flannery. Basically, they're in the store thingy, and then they blow up the gas pump to obliterate the creature... except this one didn't have the little epilogue where the main character gets killed randomly by a new flock of crazy ass crows... although, given the choice between Busey, and Flannery deserving random death at the end of the movie, I would totally have chosen Busey... but I guess that's why i'm not writing bad Sci-fi movies...

anyways, the best part of that movie was when the sheriff was giving a press conference, and someone asked what the implications of having a tiger on the loose was. Gary Busey answered something to the effect of "there's a tiger on the loose" and proceed to make a really strange face... it was incredibly odd, and rather funny at the same time... further proof that Gary Busey is insane... and looks really weird...

Some Sad and Some Hilarious

So, I've got some sad news and some hilarious news today... I guess I'll go sad first...

My Betta fish, Speedy, passed away this morning... He was a wonderfully lazy fish... we're all sad to see him go... but he lived a good and full life...

and on to the hilarious news, because i don't like being serious for very long:

Blogger is now blocked at work, as is facebook, again... so it seems that SAIC is really trying to keep you from being updated about my carrots and stuff, even though i've been slacking as of late...

it seems lately that I've really only been talking about random movies and TV shows i've seen lately... we'll see if i'm motivated to write about anything else... you never know...

anyways, I still have yet to blather about:
Mansquito
SS Doomtrooper
Eureka
The Bourne Supremacy

and maybe some others... but I'm not gonna do that now...

so, watch this space... but don't do it too often, because as we all know, i'm really lazy and bad about updating this thing lately...

Doctor Who

Well, i just finished watching the 3rd season of Doctor Who... those guys know how to write a season finale...

Wednesday, August 22, 2007

well, i'm back

i have some sad news to report...

it seems that Scott Speed no longer is racing Formula 1... so that means no more Scott Speed Sucks Report...

its a very sad day...

in fact I could lie to you and tell you that depression caused by no longer being able to ridicule Scott Speed was the reason I haven't posted in a while...

however, this one headline from cnn.com made me want to post so I could share it with you:

Study: T-rex could outrun David Beckham

http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/science/08/22/dinosaur.speed.reut/index.html

how utterly fascinating... and random...

i watched the Bourne Supremacy over the weekend, and sometime i might get around to reviewing it...

but not now, because i'm lazy...

Harry Potter?

Well, the past 2 weekends have been somewhat harry potter related...

Last weekend (i.e. just over a week ago), I read the final book. I must say I rather enjoyed the book, and thought it was a good ending to the series... granted the epilogue was kind of cheesy, but I think it still worked...

anyways, all the press leading up to the release of the book talked about how people that the reader cared about were going to die in the book... and I suppose I should say that if you don't want to read me hinting at what happens, you should stop reading. I won't actually come out and say something definite that happened, but I'll stick to vague generalities...

anyways, none of the characters i felt particularly invested in ended up dying... unlike the 6th book, where a certain important figure dies... there were a couple of people who die, where it was kind of "hey, that sucks", but I had no real emotional attachment to those people... could be the fact that I haven't done anything harry potter related (i.e. read or watch) since either the last movie was released or the last book was released... whichever came latest... so I'd had a lot of time to forget about all the incidental characters, and lose any sort of attachment i might have had...

oh, and Snape... I was very happy about what Rowling did with his character... instead of being just a one dimensional character, he actually turned out to be sort of interesting...

OK, you can start reading again... but I have no idea how you'll know this, if you're not reading anymore... i suppose I could have put this part first, but then it would get out of chronological order, and everyone would be sad...

and then the next weekend, which just past, I went and saw the latest harry potter movie...

and like my previous movie review(s) i will also discuss the previews that i remember... first off was some sort of random collection of dinosaurs, mammoths, primitive people, and randomness... the movie was 10,000 BC or somesuch... anyways I have no idea what this movie is about... except that it has mammoths in it... and in case you weren't aware, mammoths are insanely hilarious... so, perhaps someday, i will figure out what this movie is about, and not just remember the preview fondly due to the mammoth-ness... the person a few seats to my right denounced this as "stupid"...

there were some other previews that this person also denounced... which led me to question her taste... although she was right about some...

and then came "charmed" or "enchanted" or some other similarly titled shit... basically a cartoon princess (and later a prince and trusty side-kick chipmunk) end up in modern day New York City... hijinks ensue, and lots of stupid shit seems to happen... the lady seemed to think this was the best thing since sliced bread... which made me then decide that she had absolutely no tasted, and deserved to be punched in the head...

but luckily, the movie started...

surprisingly little Order of the Phoenix, for having a movie named after the organization...

very little in Grimmauld place or whatever... be interesting to see what they do with the last 2 books in that respect... also, it looked different than i imagined... i was imagining sort of a townhousey thing... but it ended up looking more like the front of a much larger building, rather than multiple buildings glued together...

whoever played the part of Umbridge did a good job of portraying the intense jerk-assitude of the character....

and whoever played Luna Lovegood, was similarly good... she played her part very well... and she liked pudding...

so, at the end, Harry makes some comment about how they have something that voldemort doesn't... i was truly hoping that Luna would chime in with a cheerful response of "pudding"... because as we all know, the dark lord doesn't get enough pudding, which is why he is so cranky... and no-nose-ish... and ugly...

so let that be a lesson to you kids... eat your pudding or you'll end up looking like... uh... a cranky, no-nose-ish, ugly wizard dude? uh, i guess... because who wants that? anyways, bad example... oh, and how can you have any pudding, if you don't eat your meat? do we in fact need no education? or thought control or whatever? anyways, that's quite enough of that random interjection...

grawp was bigger than i imagined...

and now for the bit where I complain about fight scenes... i could never tell which death eaters were which, or really what was going on near the end, due to everyone seemingly having mastered Nightcrawlers ability to teleport random places... so, yeah...

good movie though... i'd recommend it...

Foiled again, some more

Well, my masterful plan was foiled... a few weeks back i talked about how i was watching Stargate SG1 from start to finish, in hopes of being right around season 10, when it was released, and I got my copy... Anyways, my copy arrived from Amazon yesterday... and where am I in terms of watching the series?

Yeah, that would be season 5... i'm a few episodes past "Wormhole X-treme" which was the 100th episode... The cleverly name 200th episode "200" falls as episode 6 of season 10... so, that should tell you that I have a ways to go...

I blame the Shield... I borrowed 2 seasons from my brother, and watched those a while back... had i not watched those, i'd be well into season 7... a lot closer to my goal... but alas...

anyways, I watched some of the special features last night, because i haven't yet decided if i'm going to contine through my odyssey of stargate, or if i'm going to skip ahead to season 10...

anyways, I discovered some interesting things:

In the 200th episode, in the scene with invisible O'neill and Teal'c walking down the hallway, they actually had Richard Dean Anderson in a green suit walking next to Teal'c, and they post-processed him out... kind of interesting that the section of the episode was dealing with potential ways of filming a TV show without your lead actor, and they actually had the guy they were hinting at there filming, but he doesn't show up on screen..

oh, and Gary Jones, AKA Chief Master Sergeant Walter Harriman, AKA the Chevron Guy, is hilarious... sadly he does not do any of the director commentaries in this DVD box set... It was always funny to have him and Peter DeLuise (the director) on a commentary, when he was in no way involved with the episode... those commentaries are always good for a laugh, but never really give any good info that you get from other director commentary tracks...
Oh, and here's a picture to continue the tradition of random animal pictures that i find on the internet...

curses, foiled again

anyways, i went to the library yesterday to pick up some books, because i haven't done any reading for pleasure in a while...

i had hoped to pick up the book "I am Legend" to see if the movie that I was pondering about in my last post would hold any semblance of interest for me... but apparently everyone else had the same idea... all the copies were checked out... so I had to move on to plan B...

anyways, I ended up checking out the source material for 2 other movies.... the graphic novel of 300 and "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep" by Philip K. Dick (the story that inspired Blade Runner, for those of you not in the know...)

anyways, I haven't started reading the Blade Runner one, so I can't comment on how it compares to the movie. However, I did finish 300, seeing how it was a graphic novel, and really only a few pages long (not really sure how many, but distinctly under 100)... the movie was pretty much a direct adaptation of the comic book/graphic novel... which is pretty much what i expected...

I started to read the latest Stephen King novel last night... in true Stephen King fashion its pretty weird, and i'm still sort of confused as to what is going on... but, whatever, i'll deal...

and my carrots were good today...

and to the mysterious someone who keeps posting about celery: celery is far inferior to carrots (i'm talking about baby carrots, which you don't have to peel)... they are good by themselves, and require no preparation... whereas it seems that the celery you keep talking about requires some sort of preparation, either peanut butter or something or whatever... this is effort... and that's something i'm not ready to commit to... and i'm not a big fan of celery by itself... sorta tastes like water, but requires effort to chew...

Big Frakking Robots that turn into cars and shit...

So, is it immediately obvious what i'm going to talk about?

Anyways, on Saturday, I was feeling particularly unmotivated, so I decided to go see a movie. I was torn between Transformers and the new Harry Potter. In the end I decided on Transformers, seeing as its been out longer, and I'll likely have more of a chance to see the Harry Potter movie at some later date.

Anyways, I got to the theater to check on showtimes at 11:15 AM, and discovered that they had a 11:30 showing.... score one for me...

First off the previews:
Some movie with the Rock... they typical successful but generally heartless man discovers that he has a long lost kid, is reunited, and then learns a valuable lesson... hasn't this movie been done to death yet?
Some sort of post-apocalyptic movie with Will Smith... I Am Legend.... Apparently he's the last guy alive in New York City, and he has a gun and a dog... I'm not really sure what this one's about, but it intrigued me... I'm a sucker for post-apocalyptic fiction, so that's probably why... after a quick wikipedia search, it seems it is based on a short story or novel or something, and involves vampires... i'm intrigued...
And I can't remember any of the other previews, aside from the vague feeling that i wanted to punch the kid behind me in the head, since he kept talking and laughing... and being generally annoying...

But I do remember there wasn't one of those annoying "turn off your cell phone" ads, which seems to be a preview, but is interrupted by a ringing cell phone...

And on to the movie...

So, it starts out with some horrendously cheesy monologue by Optimus Prime. Who we don't meet for an absurdly long time...

At this point I was hooked... I love me some bad Sci-Fi... and even more, I love me some giant robots beating the ever-loving tar out of each other...

so, bla bla bla, helicoppter turns into big ass robot... ass kickery... some guys escape and are later attacked by a scorpion-ish robot... in the words of Willem Defoe's character in the Boondock Saints "AND THERE WAS A FIREFIGHT!"... and then there's Shia LeBouef (or however you spell it... which is coincedentally the awesomest name in the history of awesomeness... well, not really, but its still pretty cool...) and his zany antics trying to get a car, and pick up the girl wearing the impossibly tiny mini-skirt... hilarity ensues when it turns out that his car is a giant robot-ish thing... that talks by using radio clips...

anyways, some more bla bla bla, and then they show the pentagon... which looks almost nothing like the pentagon that I saw the one time i went there for work (the inside, at least)... looks like the guys i was meeting with got royally screwed in the decorating budget... anyways there's the secretary of defense, who is likely played by someone famous, but i'm more amused that he pronounces robot as ro-butt, rather than the proper ro-bought... and then there are a whole bunch of young adult analyst people, who apparently do all of the pentagon's computer work... never mind the fact that the Pentagon is the head of the DoD, and when I was there, it seemed that about 75% or more of the people were wearing military uniforms... but then again, i seemed to be in the poorly decorated section...

and there's the attractive Australian analyst woman (you got to figure that shit related to the transformers is at least at a NOFORN classification, which leads one to wonder why an australian would be working on it... but I'm a Swiss citizen, so I guess that shoots that theory out the window... (now is she attractive because of her looks or because of her accent... who knows...) anyways she enlists the help of Antwon Mitchell from Season 4 of the Shield, whose prison stay seems to have made him significantly nerdier and a lot less ruthless and badass...
further hijinks ensue...

and then the rest of the Autobots show up...

And that's where life starts to get interesting for our intrepid characters...

But I won't ruin the movie for you...

Needless to say, a large budget movie about Big ass robots that beat the snot out of each other... how can you go wrong...

Don't go in there expecting high cinema and amazing dialogue or whatever... Go expecting some over the top CGI characters beating each other up...

My only complaint is the tendency for the camera to shake during the fight scenes... made it a little disorienting figuring out who was fighting who... the black transformer fighting the dark gray transformer made it kind of difficult to figure out who was who...

that and i didn't bother to figure out their names... so someone would say something about Jazz fighting Starscream, or somesuch, and I'd have no idea who they were talking about... but it didn't matter who the robots were and what they transformed into, as the movie was about, as mentioned previously, giant robots beating the tar out of each other... who was beating who, didn't really matter all that much...

the final fight with Optimus Prime and Megatron was easy enough to figure out... and bumblebee, because he's all yellow and shit...

anyways, I'd highly recommend this movie... not the most realistic, or best movie ever, but still very enjoyable...

and my carrots were good today...

Oh, and they apparently kept the same voice for Optimus Prime as in the cartoons... which apparently is important to fanboys out there, but not to me...

Friday, July 20, 2007

i'm back

so i finally bought some carrots, so i decided to post again...

carrots were good today...

so, now who's going to buy the new harry potter book? and then read it and let me borrow it? or am i gonna have to go and sit in a bookstore for a few hours and read it like i did last time?

Friday, July 6, 2007

oops

oh, and carrots again... and they were good...

The Shield

Well, now i finally have something i feel motivated to talk about...

Its TV related, and its not Stargate (surprise surprise)... Can you guess what it is?

If you can't you should possibly get your eyes checked, since its the title of this post...

Anyways, thanks to my brother, I just finished watching seasons 3 and 4 of the FX cop TV show The Shield. (I saw seasons 1 and 2 a long time ago, so i won't be talking about them)

Anyways, its a show about a group of cops in the fictional Los Angeles district of Farmington.

Anyways, I'm sure that you can read synopses and stuff about the show on the internet, so I won't rehash the plot or talk about any of the characters...

Anyways, what sort of intrigued me about the show is the visual style. Instead of very clean and refined camera work, such as one might see in shows as Stargate SG1 (see, I had to reference it...) The Shield is mainly filmed on handheld cameras, providing very jerky action and stuff... While that seems like it might be annoying, it actually works well for the show... actually the problems i have are when the style changes... most of the time, the film has very jerky motions as a result of the handheld style, and it seems very grainy and gritty and dark... however, at certain times, the picture becomes rather bright and clear... (look at the scene where Vic goes and visits Shane and Mara and their kid for the first time for what i'm talking about). Certain moments just sort of stand out in that respect...

another thing i like about the show is the framing... note that i have absolutely no film background, so all my terminology is either made up by me, or what i learned from listening to the directors commentaries on my SG1 DVDs (and there we go again)... What I mean by this, is most shows have the actors face perfectly framed in the field of view during close ups... however, in the shield this is not always so... for example, one scene i was watching had only half of the actors face in the frame, and that went in and out of focus during the closeup...

Generally not your standard TV show, in terms of plot and execution, but well worth a watch...

Now I just need to convince my brother to get the next season on DVD, so I can nab it and watch it...

Oh, and by the way, there is an actor named Walton Goggins... how cool is that?

Thursday, July 5, 2007

yay?

well, its thursday, which means its almost friday...

and now i wish i had something else to say....

Tuesday, July 3, 2007

I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy fourth of july.

And in celebration of that holiday, i'm going to go ahead and not fix the news... it was broken already... or at least chipped... all i did was nudge it a little, and here we are... i suspect you all will deal with it...

anyways, in a glorious return to form, i must now report that the carrots i had today for lunch were quite good... they seem to be the same type of carrot that i had earlier, and probably complained about then (i.e. the wet kind)... but i guess that keeps them fresh or whatever...

and seriously, the new scion is ugly... i saw when i was driving in to work yesterday, and was motivated to post that... and due to my general level of motivation, you should know that actually means something...

DAN, YOU JERK!

You broke the news!

Fix it! Fix it now!

Breaking News

Well, I have some astounding news...

Apparently they redesigned the Scion xB... you know the boxy car that almost pulled off the "so ugly its cute" look?

well, they've redesigned it, and it looks worse... that's pretty impressive...

Wednesday, June 27, 2007

success?

Well, I have carrots again...

and they were good today...

and i have donuts again... and they're good too..

oh, and lemmy... he's frightening... just a public service announcement

Monday, June 25, 2007

more fun with work

well, work again, seeing as how its a weekday...

sadly i have nothing to report, as nothing particularly interesting happened over the weekend that i feel like telling you about...

but i'm currently happy because i remembered my mp3 player, and didn't forget it in the car like i always do...

thusly i am listening to pink floyd while finishing my work... very nice...

Friday, June 22, 2007

work sucks

well, as you all can probably tell by reading the timestamp on this post, its 5 oclock in the afternoon on a friday, and here i am...

anyways, i've spent pretty much the entire day in meetings or on the road to and from meetings... so i'm kinda burned out... i even got to go to an intro security briefing (the same one i went to when i started work here) to see if anything had changed... nothing has... so i had to listen to some guy blather on about all sorts of security stuff that i've been doing for almost a year now... ugh...

anyways, i just wanted to let you all know that tonight is the series finale of Stargate SG1. I don't remember if I bitched about the cancellation of SG1 back when i was doing the facebook notes, but alas, it seems that the end of televised SG1 is finally upon us. Well, I've already seen it, and won't be able to watch it tonight, so it doesn't really end tonight for me... but i'd suggest watching it... its a pretty good episode...

also, the stargate atlantis episode is pretty good as well... it introduces the new doctor, after the old one (the awesome scottish dude Carson Beckett) got blowed up by an assploding tumor... talk about ways to go... and anyways the new doctor is played by Jewel Staite, who you might recognize as Kaylee from Firefly and Serenity. The latest in a long line of Firefly actors who have ended up on Stargate: Jayne's Adam Baldwin as Col. Dixon on the SG1 episodes Heroes parts 1 and 2, Inara's Morena Baccarin as Adria throughout SG1 Season 10. (Is it sad that i knew that off the top of my head, and didn't have to look it up?) There might be some more, but I can't remember them right now. Its friday at 5, and my brain isn't working properly...

Peace, I'm out...

Thursday, June 21, 2007

well... here i am

well, i don't really feel like updating this thing, because i have nothing in particular to say...

i attempted to make some snide comment about the guy who tried to pimp his blog in the scott speed sucks report, but my internet decided it didn't want me doing that...

so, instead i shall say nothing at all...

Scott Speed Still Sucks

Scott Speed managed to have a whopping two people suck more than him in Last Weekend's Indianapolis Grand Prix. He finished 13th out of 15 finishers.

But still, Scott Speed Sucks.

Dan's take on the outcome:

Well at least he finished... that's something...

Monday, June 18, 2007

nothing to report

well, as i stated in my last post, i hadn't gone to the store and thus didn't have any carrots. I still haven't and don't...

and something over the weekend prompted me to think that i should break my silence about that travesty of a concert i went to with su, but i can't remember, so therefore i shan't (or perhaps to continue with the random stargate references: shalln't)

Scott Speed Sucks Report

Formula 1 Driver Scott Speed crashed out on Lap 8 attempting an extremely optimistic pass, getting shunted off track and breaking his car.

He sucks.

Wednesday, June 13, 2007

No carrots

Well, alas, today i have nothing really interesting to report. other than its raining, and the power keeps going out for a few seconds... which is all well and good, except for the fact that all of our computers have Uninteruptable Power Supplies... while these UPSs might seem to be a good thing at first glance, they have the annoying tendency to beep whenever the power goes out, and they're running on battery power... which is happening a distressing amount. Which is one of the reasons i decided to do some work in my office, as opposed to the lab where i'm surrounded by beeping monstrosities...

and i don't have any carrots left... didn't feel like going to the store over the weekend, so i am fresh out... perhaps i shall go to the store tonight after work... we'll see how i feel...

oh, and Fohdner... best word ever... not really sure how to pronounce it, but its amazing... and now for a contest... first person who identifies where that word comes from doesn't get kicked in the crotch... unless its rob, where upon he still gets kicked in the crotch, only less... assuming i ever see him again... and just as a tip, the "o" sound in that word is a long O, sounding like the exclamation "oh!".

Stupid Meetings

Well, I was supposed to be in meetings up in Maryland all day. So I didn't pack a lunch, figuring I wouldn't have time to eat it anyway...

But, the meetings finished up around noon, and here I am, without food. I'm hungry. So, it looks like I won't be going climbing after work today. Instead, food!

Anyways, it seems that my brother should be contributing more, now that he knows he can host pictures here. So, hopefully he can add some interesting graphics to my otherwise rather boring blog...

And stay tuned for the Scott Speed Sucks Report after every Formula 1 race. I know I'm excitied. Are you?

Drivel, you say?!? I'll give you drivel!

I was informed by Dan that I should contribute more.

As such, I will now demonstrate how incredibly square F1 Driver David Coulthard's head is.

First, an unmolested image of Mr. Coulthard (or DC as he likes to be called):

Secondly, through innovations in scientific technology by experts in the field of Squareheadology, we've managed to compile this image that truly illustrates the blockyness of this gentleman's most angular cabesa:

In fact, pulling out everything from the image but his head only reinforces this point:

And finally, I have used science to render David Coulthard as a rabbit:

well, apparently there are some sort of server errors stopping me from viewing my blog... lets see if this works...

Friday!

Well, its friday, and i thought i'd bring you some news:

http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/06/08/genuine.wine.ap/index.html

High tech systems aim to foil counterfit wine.

News Flash: Apparently counterfitters are no longer looking at money, but have instead started printing wine... or something... i haven't actually read the article, the headline just amused me...

oh and:

uh... what the hell... and be sure to click through the gallery to check out the kid zonked out on his soap box derby car.

Oh, and since my 7 summits fund went so well, i've decided to start another fundraiser. This time please support

The Crotchetly Old Man Fund

This fund raises money for me to go be a crotchety old man living in a shack in the woods in Montana. Please donate.

The following items can be donated in lieu of cash:
Parcels of land in Montana
Shacks on parcels of land in Montana

Blargh

Well, the title pretty much expresses how i've been feeling this whole week...

Was rather sick on Sunday, and got betterish, and now have been feeling rather crappy all week...

As a result, i haven't been eating my lunch... or at least all of it... i'm not particularly hungry, so i randomly take bits out of my lunch and eat them... however, in the past 2 days, i haven't eaten my carrots, so i can't properly report on their gooditude...

so, instead i shall give you another anecdote from what i like to call "That One Time On Stargate".

Well, the other day, i was watching the season 2 episode called "Spirits". Its the one where the weird gill-face aliens pretend to be the quasi-native american type guys' spirits, taking the form of wolves and ravens and stuff...

anyways, the main native american guy that SG1 interacts with is named Tonane, and he always has a sort of peculiar grin on his face. At first i thought it was because he was a very friendly, trusting character, just trying to be nice. but then i discovered the true reason behind the grin.

Its the actor grinning, thinking "Man, i'm not wearing any pants, and i'm totally getting paid for this... suckers..." Tonane's costume is some sort of weird loin cloth thing (which in actuality isn't nearly as disgusting as it sounds...) so there are no pants involved...

just thought i'd share my revalation...

hello again

well i'm back... not that i was gone anywhere...

just got sick and am still recovering...

i didn't have any carrots today or yesterday... however, i had some grapes, and they were fantastic (while they may not be vegetables, they're at least similar, in that they grow and stuff...)

anyways, i have nothing i feel like saying at this point.. so i think i'm gonna go home..

Grrrrr

Well, its friday at 2:38 PM... my time card had me working until 1:15... and here i still am...

we had to get something done today, and i couldn't leave until it was done... luckily its done now, and i'm leaving...

just gotta respond to a ton of emails... wonder who those are from...

anyways, i haven't had lunch, because my plan was to leave earlier by working through lunch... look where that got me...

Parasite

Well, the past 2 days, i've had a parasite attached to my neck... yesterday it was blue, and today it is red... luckily i've been able to get rid of it...

meetings all day yesterday and today, so i had to wear a tie

just completely forgot to write yesterday...

anyways, I discovered the other day that the goa'uld hate portugal... Since the tenth season of stargate sg1 is coming to DVD sometime soon, i figured i'd go back, and start watching the series from the start, figuring that i'd hit the 10th season around the time it came out...

anyways, i was watching the third to last episode of the first season "there but for the grace of god". for those of you who don't know which episode that is (shame on you), thats the one which introduces the quantum mirror, and the concept of alternate realities, when daniel (and yes, we are on a first name basis) goes through to the alternate SGC, which is under attack from the goa'uld. anyways, at some point he is looking at a map of the world, which shows red spots for places devastated by the alien's attack. (i'm going to refer to them as aliens, because its a hell of a lot easier to write than goa'uld). Anyways, a good portion of northern france is red, as well as the entire country of portugal... i'm not really sure what the population density of portugal is, but for some reason the goa'uld decided that the country needed to be wiped completely off the map... with red... and i lied... apparently i've decided that goa'uld isn't actually that hard to type, now that i've actually done it a few times...

so, i didn't have any sort of carrots or snow peas or whatever these past 2 days... yesterday i had a sandwich at some sub shop in crystal city, and today i had an apple...

and now i need to go home and eat some food, because i'm hungry...

And I'm back...

Well, I just had a random thought... the person who invented the phrase "that's so funny, i forgot to laugh" should be beaten...

You might ask, what brought that up... and I couldn't give you an answer... because it just came to me as i was sitting in the lab reading a document...

And I had celery with Peanut Butter and Raisins on them... take that, normality...

Title?

Well, I finally remembered the anecdote that I wanted to share with you... and it turns out it wasn't even an anecdote...

I have come to the conclusion that I would like to be in one of those really bad Sci-Fi movies, and I'd like to play the part of the random dude who gets eaten by the Computer Generated critters, or whatever... I think it would be quite hilarious to have to randomly jiggle and pretend to be bitten and stuff...

They had some contest like this on the Sci-Fi channel, but I couldn't figure out how to enter... I was very sad...

and I had carrots, and they were good...

And now I must go home for the weekend... and I shan't be in until Tuesday, because of what ever holiday happens to fall on Monday. Don't know what it's called, but I do know that I get it off work... in fact, my boss has mandated that everyone take the holiday, as opposed to banking it for later...

I have to pee, and then i'm going climbing...

random crap i've found on cnn.com

oh, and there's this link on cnn.com under the link "Free computer virus finds willing victims":

http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/internet/05/23/computer.virus.reut/index.html

i'm sort of curious if clicking on that link turns you into a willing victim... i doubt it, but i'm staying away, just to make sure...

oh, and:

Young climber scales 'Seven Summits'
http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/05/23/young.climber.ap/index.html

congrats to her...

and on a related note, any one have a few bajillion extra dollars that could go to the "Dan wants to climb the seven summits" fund?

because i'm taking donations...

Forgot again

As I was driving in to work today, i had a great anecdote that I was going to share with you all... but alas, i have forgotten it again...

anyways, I shall instead tell you about Spiderman 3... or at least part of it... at one point the one-armed professor guy (who should eventually become the lizard dude) is looking at a sample of the Venom symbiote (even though its never referred to as Venom in the movie). He looks through a microscope at some single celled organisms... there is one dark one that is bouncing around, running into the other ones... when the movie got dull (which happened disturbingly often), i would think back to that scene, and it would crack me up...

and in terms of other movies i've seen lately, you should go see Hot Fuzz... made by the same folk that made Shaun of the Dead... sorta slow (but still rather funny) at the beginning, but picks up for a rather fast paced and hilarious ending...

and also, just got into the TV show heroes... awesome... I highly recommend... you can watch the entire first season (all that's been shown on TV) on nbc.com... not that i would know anything about that... uh, yeah... ahem... hey look, trees...

and i had snow peas again today... i ate lunch a little late, so they dried out a little... still tasted good, but weren't as crisp and water-ful... i realize there's probably a better word than "water-ful", but i'm too lazy to come up with one...

and besides, is there anyone actually reading this thing? based on the lack of comments, i'm going to assume that everyone doesn't like me anymore, and am going to use this space to bitch and whine about stuff...

oh wait, never mind... i did that before...

oops... forgot to post today...

and i don't feel like doing it now...

Here I am

Well, here I am... not on a plane on the way to Albuquerque. Trip got cancelled for me at the last minute... Funding issues...

anyways, you all know what that means... 3 more days where i can update this thing, rather than leaving you in a state of limbo wondering what exactly is going on with my carrot intake...

I had snow peas again today. One was rather salty... kinda weird, and unexpected, but not too bad...

ta da!

and just when you thought slinkies weren't hilarious...

and i guess it wasn't an anecdote after all...

Me again

but then again, really who else would it be...

anyways, another thrilling and exciting day at work...

I had some interesting anecdote to relate to you, but completely have forgotten it... so, alas, you shall have to go the weekend un-anectodified... what a terrible shame that is...

had carrots again today... they were quite tasty...

Update

Had snow peas... good...

really bored... don't feel like updating this thing...

Intriguing

is it just me or, does it look like this guy is playing the instrument with his nose?

I have returned

Well, since I took a day off from posting on this blog thingy, you can probably figure out the duration i was in florida...

Left monday afternoon, and got back in late last night...

We went to Eglin Air Force Base, which is right by Fort Walton Beach Florida. If that means nothing to you, its about 50 miles east of pensacola. If that means nothing to you, find a damn map...

Anyways, we ended up staying at the Holiday Inn Sunspree resort, which was right on the beach. I could probably have chucked something off the balcony of my room, and hit the beach... and i didn't even have a beach front room...

Spent most of yesterday in meetings, so i didn't get to enjoy florida all that much, although i did go for a nice (but very short) walk on the beach before dinner on Monday....

and I had carrots again today... they were good, as always... they were a little bit wet, as the bag that they were in also had a bunch of water in it...

florida! (?)

another short day at the office... this time i'm not leaving early just to go home, but am in fact going to florida for a trip... i'm so excited... oh wait, no i'm not... the whole day in meetings tomorrow? yay...

anyways, no carrots today... snow peas again... and they're good...

Friday, May 11, 2007

Yay for me...

Best day ever...

got in at 7:30 AM... leaving at 8:45 AM...

Thursday, May 10, 2007

No carrots tomorrow...

Well, at least there's gonna be no update about my carrots tomorrow...

I'm coming in early, dealing with some stuff, and then leaving again. So, it'll be a short day. Alas I won't be having lunch here, so i won't be able to keep you updated.

I'm sorry. I know somehow you all will survive...

Snow Peas

Well, the snow peas are fantastic...

I might have to incorporate them more into my lunch, to provide some variety...

And I'd like to thank my brother for his very informative first post... looks like this'll be what ths blog will be about... carrots (and possibly snow peas), as well as us insulting each other..

PS. You suck, watchdog... and your name sucks too...

You is dum

HA.

It's on the internet so it must be true.

You is dum.

Excellent... I can edit your posts... score one for me...

New Author

Now, in addition to hearing whatever is on my mind, I'd like to present a new author of this blog, who will hopefully add a lot to our meaningful discussions:

My brother...

So, lets see how long this lasts before I try to figure out how to kick him off...

Updating progress

I'll be updating this thing with images and other whatnot, as i figure out what i'm doing...

and a special thanks to my brother for all his images...

you can visit his bloggy thing to get your fill of big guns, crotch kicks of the week, beers of the week, as well as random other bits and bobs at http://50cal.wordpress.com/

Enjoy.

Take that Facebook...

Welcome to Dan's Daily Drivel...

This is the successor to my notes on Facebook, which I sadly can't access at work anymore...

So, now I shall update you all on my carrots and other random things that are on my mind, in this forum...

Now I just have to come up with a way to let my faithful facebook readers know about my new venue for blathering...

Anyways, what spurred this distinct lack of laziness is that I have something that will revolutionize the world of my daily carrot intake.

Today, I don't have any carrots in my lunch. Instead I have snow peas... or sugar snap peas, or whatever the hell you want to call them...

Since its only 10:30, I haven't eaten them yet, but I'm sure they'll be good...

I'll probably update this after lunch, just so you can know how they were.

And that's all for now...
