F1 Cars: Renault R30

The Renault R30, to be driven by Robert Kubica and rookie Vitaly Petrov.

Well, aside from the positively horrific color scheme, this doesn't look too bad. Much better than the Sauber. Actually, in this studio shot, it doesn't look too bad. But in this other picture, of the car in non-controlled lighting, it looks downright terrible. Probably its also the different angle, which shows off the rather large amount of black at the back of the car.

It looks better with the predominantly yellow look, with only a few black highlights, as opposed to the larger amount of black that is seen when you actually get a look at the back of the car.

Although it is starting to grow on me. Mainly due to its obnoxiousness...

F1 Cars: BMW-Sauber C29

The New "BMW"-Sauber C29. BMW in name only, after the company left F1, and sold the team to former owner Peter Sauber. And the fact that they have a Ferrari engine in there, and not a BMW.

This one will be driven by Kamui Kobayashi (who drove for Toyota in the last 2 Grands Prix of 2009 to replace the injured Timo Glock) and Pedro de la Rosa (a long time test driver for McLaren, who last raced in a Grand Prix in 2006).

Much like I didn't like the BMW-Sauber car in 2009, I'm not a fan of this one. The nose just looks terrible. And maybe the color scheme will look a bit better if they get around to getting some sponsors. We shall see.

McLaren's still winning.

Potential Amendment of my views of NASCAR

Apparently the bag of tricks for fixing broken NASCAR cars includes a baseball bat.

That amuses me quite a lot...

Snow!

I went to go buy some food today. And the roads had a good bit of snow on them. And saw 3 snowplows.

None of which were actually plowing.

Glad that someone's getting paid to drive snowplows around the streets for positively no reason.

NASCAR

I don't understand the appeal.

The cars don't look fast. They may be horrifically fast, but they just don't look it.

The cars aren't attractive. They're just sort of plain.

Can someone please enlighten me as to why this is such a popular motorsport?
